The Herb House
2 Kleinvallei St, Onder Papegaaiberg
When Bridget Kitley had to move her herb nursery in 2010, she planted all her mother stock in the Herb House garden, placing each herb where it would grow best. A curry tree she grew from seed is now a beautiful four-metre sacred tree. Jenny Muntingh re-established the garden after the 2017 drought, adding daisies, forget-me-nots, poppies, origanum and chillies, and since 2020 the current custodians have added climbing roses, citrus and olive trees, indigenous jasmine, secret tunnels, reflective spaces and a tree house. Listen for birdsong, look out for geckos, butterflies and a chameleon hiding on a branch, and breathe in honeysuckle, lavender, sage and jasmine.
